Mining in Music Class
(3/26) Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade music class has been preparing music for their show based upon a book entitled “Wish” that they are reading in Ms. Spicer’s class. The book is the story of a young girl from Appalachia, and the students are not only learning songs about the area, but also the history behind the area as well. One aspect of Appalachia is coal mining, so the classes immersed themselves in a mining scenario with pounding arm work and navigating through a small tunnel. It made the students understand better what a hard life the miners had. Here at DT Cox, we put music into action!
