(11/21) Today, fourth grade students worked hard toward their AR goals while enjoying a festive fall treat. They sipped flavored water, munched on trail mix, and some even listened to guest readers—Mrs. Vandiver and Mr. Varnon. What a fun way to celebrate reading!

(11/21) Our 3rd graders brought the wow factor to today’s Vocabulary Parade! Students proudly showcased exciting, unfamiliar words by dressing in creative costumes, choosing a unique word to represent themselves, and demonstrating how to use their word in context.
A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make this event such a success—your support and hard work made the parade both educational and unforgettable!

(11/21) This morning, Ms. Griffith's class celebrated a Charlie Brown Friendsgiving before kicking off their Vocabulary Parade! Just like Charlie Brown and his friends, the students gathered together to enjoy a simple Thanksgiving-style meal filled with laughter, friendship, and gratitude. Each student also created a special place mat and wrote about what they are thankful for this year. It was the sweetest way to start their day—full hearts, full tummies, and excited scholars ready for the parade!

(11/21) Ms. Lydia’s students had a fun Thanksgiving-themed week! They dove into reading "Thanksgiving in the Woods" to make inferences and write comparing sentences, played a Thanksgiving “Headbands” game to practice sounds and asking yes/no questions, and wrapped it all up with festive riddles and Bingo. So thankful for all the fun learning happening! 🍁🦃

(11/21) To finish up their area and perimeter unit, Ms. Britt’s students had the option to design either a zoo or a farm. They got to create all kinds of landmarks such as animal habitats, barns, and playgrounds and then calculate the perimeter and area of each one. It was a great way to combine creativity with math, and the students had so much fun bringing their imaginative designs to life.

(11/21) The EL Exit Club of D.T. Cox held its monthly meeting after school on Wednesday. The club was started this year by Mrs. Chrestman as an incentive for fourth graders who passed the rigorous ELPA 21 proficiency test last spring. Having passed the test, the students no longer attend Mrs. Chrestman’s class, so the club is a way to have fun, stay connected, and continue to promote language learning. At the meeting, students who had fall/winter birthdays were celebrated, and club members did a science activity and created a presentation of Spanish-English vocabulary.

(11/19) Mrs. Kirk and Ms. Shield's students gathered together for a special Friendsgiving lunch! Thank you to Ollie Rose Catering for providing such a delicious meal!

(11/19) DT Cox Warrior Club members enjoyed an incentive trip to learn about job opportunities right here in Pontotoc. Special thanks to PEPA, the Fire Department, Mississippi Beef Brothers, and Sansing Lawn Care for taking the time to share career education with our future leaders of tomorrow!

(11/18) DT Cox Staff were treated to a delicious steak dinner last night in celebration of our “A” school rating for the 2024–2025 school year!
A huge thank you to our Central Office staff for providing the meal, and to West Heights Baptist Church for hosting us and making the evening so special. We are grateful for your support as we continue doing amazing things for our students! 💛📚
