Overcoming Obstacles (2/3) Students in Mrs. Brown’s music classes have been studying different families of instruments. The students were challenged and inspired as they watched a beautiful performance from a musician while using a prosthetic arm! The class used this example to discuss overcoming obstacles to obtain success.
Ancient Mesopotamia (2/2) After studying ancient Mesopotamia during STEM class, 3rd and 4th graders were given limited supplies and had to build Ziggurat marble runs.
Chinese New Year Study (2/3) Mrs. Brown’s 3rd grade music class recently studied the culture and music of China in celebration of the Chinese New Year! Students learned fun facts about China and are practicing singing a song with Chinese lyrics that will be featured in their upcoming Calendar Days Showcase on March 6. The students enjoyed improvising with the tones of Chinese music based on a pentatonic (5 note) scale and had fun creating their own tunes using xylophones.
Celebration!! (2/2) DTC celebrated Mrs. Haylee Collums for receiving the PCSD Teacher of the Year award today with soup and desserts. Special thanks to our PTO members for the wonderful lunch!!

Football Fun ( 2/2) Third and fourth grade stem students were given a limited amount of supplies, and tasked to create a free standing goal posts.
Lessons on Friendship (1/30) Our school counselor, Ms. Kinnard, shared a classroom guidance lesson on friendship and recess. The students really have a great time when she visits!
