(1/13) This nine week's third and fourth grade STEM students earned free choice Thursday. Students used different building materials to become engineers. We had houses with rooms and swings that were capable of swinging. Click the link to view more photos!

(1/12) 3rd grade gifted students created a medallion inspired by the Australian artist, Bronwyn Bancroft. Students studied her artistic style, listened to her stories, and learned about her life in Australia. She is most famous for her Bundjalung art, writing, and her work as an activist. We learned the word "Indigenous", and discussed why Indigenous artwork is important to learn about, promote, and preserve.

(1/9) Ms. Kinnard, our school counselor, is visiting classrooms this week. This month's classroom guidance lesson is on feelings. The students used emotion balls to discuss this topic.

(1/13) Mrs. Holley and Dr. Horton read "The Tale of Peasey and Beansey" to students during lunch on Friday. The moral of the book is you should always be kind to others.

(1/13) Congratulations to the following students for receiving positive office referrals this week! We are so proud of you! Keep up the good work!

(8/24) Ms. Lewis' fourth grade ELA class worked together on a story elements game. After reading a passage, they took turns rolling a dice and answering questions about the story!

Starting this Friday, August 26th, we will offer face painting for 50 cents each side. This will take place in the gym before the bell every Friday during football season! Parent volunteers are welcome! We will start at 7:25.

Starting Friday, August 26th, we will sell popsicles at recess for 50 cents until further notice.

D.T. Cox Elementary is excited to begin a new after school mentoring club! The goal of our Guys with Ties program is to grow our young boys into gentlemen by teaching them the skills to be successful in society. Letters of invitation will be coming home soon. We are seeking community support for our program through donations of ties and snacks.
