(5/6) Join the Warrior Class of 2032 as they take a final walk as Elementary students in the halls of D.T. Cox.

(5/3) These 3rd grade gifted students (Davis Payne, Kalynn Johnson, and Daniella Williams) each wrote a poem for the Mississippi Poetry Project. Out of many entries, their poems were selected as school-wide winners. Their poem was printed in the Mississippi Poetry Project: Who I Am anthology, and each student received their very own copy to keep!
The goal of the Mississippi Poetry Project is to help students experience the joy and accomplishment that can come from writing poetry, and from sharing their own voices, words, and experiences. Poetry is for everyone, and there’s no wrong way to write a poem. Words can be a tremendous source of delight, play, and comfort, and these students were very excited to be published poets!

(5/3) EL students and their families joined together for an annual potluck dinner, sharing delicious foods from countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, and Yemen. It was a great time of fellowship for everyone! Many thanks to our community sponsors and PCSD teachers, staff and Beta club for helping make this such an awesome event!

(5/1) Mrs. Boone and Ms. Spicer's fourth graders had a "Campout" themed reading day last week. The students had a great time!

(5/1) Mrs. Heatherly already knows her students will do great on their state tests, but this week, she gave them the opportunity to tell her what they are great at besides math and reading. Students shared about their accomplishments in sports, ballet, jujitsu, and clubs. Students also showed the class things they've collected and animals they've trained. They even taught the class about things such as ballet and cheer moves, fashion and words to train your dog in Spanish. They showed the class they are great at so many things!

(4/30) On, Friday, Mrs. Collums' and Ms. Burrell's classes went head to head in a heated multiplication battle. Students enjoyed the friendly competition and fun. Congratulations to Mrs. Collums' class for winning this series. Stay tuned for a rematch!

(4/30) Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade music showcase entitled “Wish” was a dream come true! The musical was inspired by the book “Wish” that the students have recently read in Mrs. Spicer's class. The students not only learned the music and history of the Appalachian mountains but also studied crafting of the area. They created many pieces of art to go along with the show- including weaving, layered mountain painting, and mountain sketching.

(4/30) After learning about continents and oceans, Mrs. Ray's third grade students created Me on the Map crafts.
