Grinch Escape Room (12/12) Mrs. McNeal's class looked at different kinds of figurative language. Afterwards, they read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and completed a Grinch Figurative Language escape room in small groups.
Test Prep Competition (12/12) Ms. Griffith’s classes have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming reading benchmark exam. Their favorite way to review test questions is with a little competition among teams. Students work together with their team to find the best answers to each question. The team who has the most points, wins a prize at the end. Honorable mentions are given to the teams who have worked well together and have kept a positive attitude. This has been such a great team building experience and the students have looked forward to playing each day.
The Grinch's Heart (12/12) Students in Mrs. Steele’s class made the Grinch’s heart grow by creating a chemical reaction. Baking soda and vinegar were mixed to create carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide made the balloon expand, causing the Grinch’s heart to grow!
A Penguin Christmas (12/10) There was SNOW much fun had at the 4th grade musical presentation of “A Penguin Christmas!” The show was an original creation written by Mrs. Brown in collaboration with ELA classes that had recently read the book “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”
Climbing the Wall (12/9) During PE students learned to climb a horizontal rock wall. The goal was for students to climb the entire length of wall without falling off. Climbing helps build hand, arm and leg strength as well as endurance. The students loved this activity.
Can You Catch the Elf?? (12/9) Ms. Shields' students practiced sequence by writing the steps they would take to catch their classroom elf by building a trap with marshmallows and toothpicks. Then, they actually got to build it! They also had to predict whether or not the trap they built would successfully catch the elf.
Using Games to Review (12/6) Mrs. Roe's students used task card board games to review inferencing, main idea, and summarizing during extension today!
