(9/3) Ms. Luther's third grade math students are studying graphs. Students were given data and had to create a bar graph representing that data.

(9/3) In music class, we not only LISTEN to the songs, but READ them together as well!

(8/30) To gain background knowledge for one of their music showcase songs, 4th grade students in Mrs. Brown’s class participated in an immigration simulation as they studied Ellis Island. The class learned of the rules process of admission into America. Historic Real-life scenarios were put before the class and students were dressed in costume as their stories were shared with the class “immigration board.” The class would listen to each story and vote to decide if the person met the criteria to enter the USA or if they would be deported. The real life result of the case was then shared with the students.

(8/30) Mrs. Kirk and Ms. Luther's third graders have been studying the parts of a plant. To enhance their learning experience, they painted and labeled the parts of a plant as part of an art project.

(8/30) Thanks to our PTO and Mr. Varnon's Blackstone skills, DTC staff were treated to a WONDERFUL grilled burger lunch. This made a Black and Gold Friday even better!!

(8/30) Mrs. Heatherly's fourth graders have been learning about the water cycle. The students were asked to write a story about a water drop's adventure in the water cycle using their vocabulary words from this week. They wrote about how the drop evaporated, condensed, and turned itself into precipitation. Some of the water drops went to a waterpark, and one even slid down a rainbow!

(8/29) In Mrs. Hilliard's 3rd grade gifted class, students engaged in a series of creative and challenging activities designed to stretch their thinking. First, they attempted a drawing using their non-dominant hand, which tested their patience and fine motor skills while encouraging them to think outside the box. Next, they took a left brain/right brain quiz to explore their cognitive strengths and understand how they processed specific information. Finally, they participated in a "finish the picture" activity, where they were given a partial image and had to use their imagination to complete it, showcasing their creativity and problem-solving abilities. These activities fostered a deeper understanding of their own learning styles and cognitive flexibility.
