(9/12) Mrs. Kirk's third grade math students are using strategies to learn multiplication facts. Each student was given a different multiplication fact. The students had to write an addition sentence to show equal groups, an array, and the fact family. They also had to label the factors and product. They used dot markers for this lesson.

(9/12) Students in Mrs. Burrell’s homeroom class are enjoying using their new dry erase desks to draw equal groups as they begin to learn multiplication strategies.

(9/13) During library class this week, students reviewed the parts of a book. To practice what they learned, they completed a nonfiction book scavenger hunt!

(9/12) 3rd grade UFO students practiced their interviewing skills with their peers in preparation for interviewing their "Hometown Hero". Students interviewed a classmate and recorded their answers, and then wrote an informative paragraph with details from the interview. This process helped students become more comfortable and confident with the interview process. Students will take these skills with them and put them to use when interviewing their own hero for an upcoming project.

(9/11) Third graders are starting to learn their multiplication facts. To keep them engaged, Mrs. L. Collums allowed her students to dance along with the Numberock video for the week. This week they are learning the 0,1,and 2s.

(9/11) Fourth grade students in Mrs. McNatt's STEM class have been learning about potential and kinetic energy. They built roller coasters using pipe insulation and a marble. They had to make sure the coaster had a hill and a loop. The marble had to stay on the track.

(9/11) This week in PE, students played 4-square. The goal was to hit the ball into someone else’s square in order to stay in the game. The player that failed to return the ball to another square was eliminated, and another player rotated into the playing square.

(9/8) Mrs. Chrestman’s students are studying plants. Thanks to Reeder's Farm Supply’s donation of butterbean seeds, the students have been germinating seeds in class. Each day they have observed changes to the seeds, and are so excited to see some sprouting!

(9/8) Yearbook pictures for DT Cox students will be made on Wednesday, September 20th.

(9/8) Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade music classes recently studied the science of sound waves. The students experimented with humming on a balloon to experience wave vibrations and also practiced “blind” taps behind them to discover how sound travels.
