(8/24) Fourth grade gifted students are currently learning all about giraffes! Students worked together in groups in order to research to learn more about giraffes. Then the groups came up with a creative way to share what they learned with their peers. Some wrote scripts and acted out the information! Some worked together to create a slideshow with information. Some decided making a life size, 19 foot giraffe would be the best way to share what they learned! Either way, there was a lot of creativity on display!

(8/24) Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade music classes will be presenting “Songs of America” on Tuesday, October 3. They are working on memorizing one of the songs that includes the names of all 50 states! The students enjoyed doing research on our states and will have their work on display during the performance.

(8/24) This week in P.E., students played Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS) Hula Hoops. The students had to start at one end, hop until they met another student, and play RPS to see who would continue trying to make it to the end. The team that had a player reach the other end won!

(8/23) The DT Cox Warriors Club strives to teach our 4th grade boys important life skills. At this week’s meeting, the boys learned the importance of a proper handshake!

(8/23) Mrs. Brown’s music classes have enjoyed studying various instruments and it was a treat for students to buzz into a simulated trombone! We thank the Pontotoc City Schools Endowment for Excellence in Education for making this experience possible!

(8/22) Mrs. Chrestman’s students have been learning about the states of matter, and conducted an experiment to see how solids and liquids (vinegar and baking soda) can create a gas (carbon dioxide) to fill a balloon. The students (and even Mrs . Chrestman) were surprised by some of the results!

(8/21) 3rd grade gifted students participated in a "getting to know you" doodle scavenger hunt. Students went around the classroom finding clues that instructed them to draw a doodle that represented what the clue stated. Students also played an interactive game where they had to tell a specific fact about themselves based on what color Skittle candy they got! The students ended their week creating an "All About Me" collage that represented things they liked or showcased one of their hobbies. Students compared and contrasted their collages, all while getting to know each other better!

(8/18) Students and teachers at DTC we so excited to see the football players and cheerleaders this morning! Each Friday during football season, they will be visiting with students and selling tattoos and ribbons.
