(8/28) DT Cox Warrior Club members learned from their sponsors this week of the importance of a proper handshake. We love cultivating our future leaders! Some members even had the opportunity to practice with Mr. Webb- our own Pontotoc City Schools Superintendent while he was on our campus!

(8/28) This week in Mrs. Hodum's class, students are learning about text structures. Yesterday, they focused on cause and effect. They created their own cause and effect sentences. Then, they identified the cause, effect and signal word from each sentence. After that, they illustrated their cause and effect relationships.

(8/27) Mrs. Heatherly's class studied the water cycle this week. Students wrote and illustrated a story about an adventure they would have as a water drop and discussed the steps in the water cycle as they went through them.

(8/26) Today, Ms. Griffith's students were rock detectives! They are learning about text structures, and focused on descriptions in a text today. The students headed to the playground to collect and describe rocks with a partner - focusing on color, texture, shape, size, and even special features. They loved sharing their discoveries and practicing descriptive writing along the way!

(8/26) Mrs. McNeal's students enjoyed the cooler weather by using sidewalk chalk to practice their Wordly Wise words.

(8/25) In last week’s PE activity, the students worked together to build hula huts using hula hoops. This hands-on challenge required strong teamwork and communication as they collaborated to design, assemble, and successfully complete their huts. The activity encouraged cooperation, problem-solving, and creative thinking in a fun and active way.

(8/22) Mrs. Steele’s classes learned about character traits this week. As an extension to the lesson, the students painted self-portraits and paired up with a partner to list personality and physical traits about one another.
