(2/1) Ms. Luther's students are completing their fraction study guide in preparation for Friday's test.

(2/1) Students in Ms. Burrell’s homeroom are sorting M&Ms by color and turning them into fractions. Students enjoyed this “hands-on” activity and enjoyed eating them afterwards!

(1/27) Our school counselor, Ms. Kinnard, is making classroom visits this week to discuss conflict resolution with our students. Students are learning ways to resolve conflicts such as listening to their friends, respecting each other, apologizing, and making a plan for the future!

(1/29) Students in Ms. Luther's homeroom celebrated the 100th day of school today!

(1/25) Mrs. Kirk's students continued their study of fractions this week. They discussed parts of a whole. Students used manipulatives to recognize and create parts of a whole and to create their own parts. For example: 1/2=2/4 (all while creating equivalent fractions).

(1/24) To begin their unit on Mississippi, third and fourth grade gifted students had the opportunity to experience the talent of Pontotoc legend, Terry "Harmonica" Bean. Mr. Bean shared his upbringing and how music, specifically the Mississippi Blues, has been such an important part of his life. Students were able to listen to him play and sing. It was a spectacular treat, especially after a long, "snowy" break. We would like to thank Ms. Melissa Roberson for arranging this experience for our students!

(1/10) D.T. Cox Science Fair will be held on February 2, 2024. Any student interested in participating should turn in their form and $5.00 by January 19, 2024. We can't wait to see all of the creative projects!!

(9/13): The PCSD librarians attended the LAMP workshop this week. Kellie McIntyre, author of The Passport Project, spoke of her memoir. Elizabeth Simmons informed librarians of the MAGNOLIA database updates from MDE.

(9/13) Mrs. Owen’s 4th graders are studying Historical, Technical, and Scientific Texts this week. They enjoyed a “tea party”, thanks to generous parents, while they read a historical text about The Boston Tea Party. Other cookie themed texts this week include technical texts on how cookies are made and scientific texts about the chemical and physical changes that occur when baking cookies.
